There are other alternatives available in New York State to the regular self-employed health insurance that are offered by different health insurance companies in each county, including Aetna. Aetna offers premium rates on plans for self-employed people who failed to get full coverage because of working less than the prescribed number of hours per week and/or had more or less than the allowed amount of employees in their company.
The Aetna plan offers coverage that includes coverage for self-employed individuals, their spouses, their family and optional parent with children as an alternative self-employed health insurance. There are two optional plans including the HMO and Point of Service that cost between $804.76 and $2,883.96 per month. Both plans include inpatient/outpatient hospital, doctor services, referral /consultant services, adult preventative, maternity care, surgical services, children’s primary health care/preventative services, diabetic self-education management, diabetic supplies, diabetic equipment, lab services, diagnostic x-ray services, radiology, hemodialysis services and radiology coverage. Prescription coverage costs extra, but mental health, mental health medication, physical therapies, substance and alcohol rehabilitation, substance and alcohol medication, hospice care, chiropractic and home health care services are not included. However, the HMO plan does include general New York state health insurance coverage.
It is important when trying for the Aetna self-employed health insurance to evaluate all rates and plans and choose the applicable one. After determining the eligibility into the Healthy New York plan, small group employers can determine which benefits to offer their employees, who is eligible and include the optional pharmacy benefit as needed by employees. Coverage begins one month after the application date; all documentation will follow shortly thereafter.
