I was reading the other day about the difference between regular health insurance and Long-term care insurance.  Personally, I don’t think most Americans know the difference.  This is an issue that people truly need to be educated about, but unfortunately, they don’t teach it in school.  One of the reasons that it is imperative to educate people is because people are living longer.  And if you live to a ripe old age, apparently living to one hundred is becoming more and more common, and suddenly have a debilitating illness, such as cancer or a stroke, where does that leave you?  If you don’t know about the coverage in your current policy you could be at a severe disadvantage when tragedy strikes.  And unfortunately, life is full of tragedies.  You can’t rely on the good luck you might be having now, or those things we tell ourselves so we don’t have to prepare for the future because we don’t want to suffer or die.  Well, we all will sooner or later, and you never know when.  But you can make it easier on your loved ones so they don’t have too much to bear if tragedy does strike you.  A little planning goes a long way.  Start today and you will be secure in the knowledge that your loved ones will not suffer undue stress in worrying about your healthcare needs tomorrow.
